Florence

Sorry it has taken me so long to post about Florence (Firenze in Italian). I have been taking my time to sort out my feelings about it. My mother’s name is Florence, therefore I want to love the city that shares the same name. Nick and I celebrated our 2-year dating anniversary in Florence last weekend and chose Florence because it’s romatic. The Jersey Shore:Italy, lived and filmed in Florence!!! However I just did not love it this time around. There are people who adore Florence, it’s their favorite city and I understand why. There is so much to do, really great shopping and the town is small enough it’s very easy to learn and access. However, my heel cracked from walking on the uneven stones in the city. Nick finally broke down and bought a pair of Adidas, that it seems the rest of the town is wearing, and we sometimes chose a nap over another museum.

Wonderful things happened in Florence, we found fireworks on our anniversary night near the river. We ate delicious foods. We climbed two amazing towers. We decided on the castle we’ll buy (or rent) should that become an option in the future. We had anniversary dinner next to the Duomo and the waiter gave us a free, second bottle of wine. Don’t worry, we saved it and drank it on the train to Rome :). We stayed in an old palazzo (palace) on the trendy shopping street with Fendi and Prada as our neighbors but you know how sometimes a city just doesn’t feel like your city, or excite you? This is how we felt about Florence. It was interesting too because we didn’t talk about it at the time but on our train ride away from Florence, we both admitted that we have no desire to return. Unless we buy a castle. Even in typing this, I feel bad. We are so fortunate to have gone and wait until you see these pictures, the city is truly beautiful.

I only remember you falling asleep at the club on your bday 😂😂😂. We decided it was partly because there is no green space in Florence, no parks or anything
